Smirnoff's Nightlife Exchange Project is an enormous undertaking. Whether viewed as a global campaign combining 50 countries exchanging unique events on a single night, or viewed from the perspective of the completely original Australian event, it is an epic task.
For 2011 Australia 'swapped' with Italy and the entrance to Docklands Central Pier in Melbourne was transormed into the Colloseum. Inside, 2,000 punters were treated to five distinct rooms brought to life with a different theme: urban Italian art, the Alps, Milan, Turin and a masquerade ball featuring DJ's airfreighted in from Italy just for the ocassion.
But rather than just music, the night highlighted Italian cocktails, food, scenery, even the sceening of the'beautiful game' complete with enthusiastic Italian commentary while dozens of street performers, musicians, actors, bar staff, pyrotechnicians and stage managers created a night that is unlikely to be replicated ever again.
Sound Alliance was responsible for all elements of event planning and production from venue selection to lasers to fake snow falling in Le Alps.
Let the pictures speak a thousand words.
